Lufthansa Airlines was heavily fined for discriminating against Jewish passengers

The United States has fined Lufthansa Airlines a record $4 million in 2022 after the airline banned some Jewish passengers from flying for refusing to comply with rules requiring face masks.
The Department of Transport said that Lufthansa had discriminated against the passengers by treating them all as one group, recognizing that many were unaccompanied passengers.
This is how the airline staff classified the passengers by their attire.

It is said to be the largest fine ever imposed on an airline for civil rights violations.
Lufthansa chose to settle the fine to avoid legal action.
But the airline denied discrimination and said the incident was caused by a “tragic miscommunication.” German airline giant Lufthansa was fined $4 million for denying 128 Jewish passengers a flight, according to a statement released by the US Department of Transportation.

Lufthansa is committed to being an ambassador of goodwill and tolerance, the company said in a statement.
The incident happened to passengers traveling from New York to Budapest in May 2022 via Frankfurt.
The 98-year-old airline ranks fourth in the world by revenue.
