It is said that Ethiopia loses two billion tons of fertile soil every year

People in Need, in collaboration with the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Ethiopia, held a discussion forum attended by experts, policy makers and stakeholders to strengthen the partnership of experts to strengthen climate change and sustainable land management in Ethiopia.
At the forum, Ethiopia is facing a serious threat of environmental climate change, People in Need announced.
He said the reason for this is deforestation, soil erosion and land degradation, which have greatly reduced agricultural productivity and threatened food security for millions of people.

It has been pointed out that the effects of climate change, including temperature rise and unseasonal rain, have worsened the situation and made more than 70 percent of the population vulnerable.
It has also been pointed out that due to the increasing population and demand, overgrazing and insufficient implementation of agriculture and watershed development activities, the forest cover has been removed.

As a result, Ethiopia loses two billion tons of fertile soil per year, Bisrat Radio and Television heard.
It is said that these challenges are not only ecological but also socio-economic problems, food shortages, poverty and migration.
Therefore, it has been pointed out that Ethiopia needs quick action on climate change.

It has been stated that the international humanitarian organization called People in Need has been making a significant contribution in the efforts to redevelop abandoned lands and promote sustainable agriculture in Ethiopia for more than 20 years.

As a result, more than 22,000 households have been able to benefit from improved agricultural extension services, according to Ms. Serkalem Getahun, the current advisor of People in Need’s natural resource management and agriculture, Bisrat Radio and Television heard.
