The health office of the region has announced that condoms are currently being offered for sale at inappropriate prices in Gambella region.
Director of Public Relations and Communication Directorate of the Bureau, Ato Bhradzadhu Laineh told Bisrat Radio and Television that the prevalence of HIV AIDS in the region is high. He stated that the current prevalence rate has reached 3.24.
He said that the presence of flesh contact made the disease spread.
Among the most vulnerable sections of the society are women and young people. It has been stated that the high cost of condoms, which help prevent the spread of HIV-AIDS in the region, is an obstacle for people to protect themselves from the disease.
According to the office, I have confirmed that condoms, which were being sold for 50 birr in the region, are now being sold for 150 birr.
The office stated that it is working together with the relevant parties to find a solution to the issue.
It has been stated that a warning has been given to those who offer condoms for sale at inappropriate prices, and it has been suggested that administrative action will be taken against those who do not return from their actions.
