The man who killed his wife with an ax in a dispute over why she did not pay for the house expenses was sentenced to prison

Mr. Degefe Benti, a 36-year-old man, resides in Leka Dulecha District of East Welega Zone.

They had a good life between the two and there was no problem or conflict in their marriage.
However, with the passage of time, misunderstandings arise between the couple.
The main cause of the disagreement is not paying attention to their marriage as Mr. Degefe used to do before, especially the spending on the house is decreasing.

This destroys the good relationship between the two.
As a result, on July 7, 2016, at 3:00 in the morning, a violent fight broke out in the house.
In this situation, A/to Degepa leaves the house with their sharp axes.
After a while, Mrs. Anbise goes to the workplace to help her husband saying that the morning conflict has calmed down.

However, the morning’s anger did not stop A/to Degepa saying that she came again in search of something and they threw the ax they were holding on her forehead and injured her.
After hitting the mother, they panicked and went to the police station with the ax they had directly injured and surrendered.
Mrs. Anbise went to the medical facility but she died due to her injuries.
The police will continue the investigation on Mr. Degepa by sending him to the hospital for an autopsy.
It was found that the cause of the conflict was a dispute over cost sharing.
Subsequently, he sent the investigation file to the prosecutor after strengthening it with the body and human evidence.
The prosecutor, on the other hand, looks at the investigation file sent to him and files a case.
When the prosecutor looked at the case based on article 539 sub-article 1 of the criminal law, the High Court of East Welega Zone passed a conviction.
In the criminal trial held on the 5th of August 2016, the court decided to sentence the accused, Mr. Degefe Benti, to 13 years in prison after he committed the act and surrendered to the police as a mitigation.
