๐๐ผ The flight was terminated without Ethiopia evacuating a single citizen from Lebanon
Ethiopian Airlines has announced that it has temporarily suspended its flights to Beirut and Tel Aviv due to the current situation in the cities.
According to the information shared by the airline on its social networking page, it has canceled all flights to Beirut until it issues an alternative announcement.
The airline stated that it will not fly to Tel Aviv until September 27, 2017.
The airline mentioned that it is closely monitoring the current situation in the mentioned areas.
He also pointed out that information is being exchanged with the relevant parties.
In particular, although it is known that there are many Ethiopians engaged in domestic work and migrant work in Lebanon, the Ethiopian government has not yet expelled a single citizen from the country.
The Ethiopian consulate in Beirut has done nothing concrete except to register the refugee citizens.
Dagu Journal reported that Ethiopians in Lebanon are suffering from poverty, and it is not forgotten that one Ethiopian was killed by Israel’s attack.
The government’s suspension of Ethiopian Airlines flights without evacuating citizens from Lebanon made it seem as if the process of evacuating citizens from the country has stopped before it has even started.
48 Ethiopian migrants died in drowning accident
75 other citizens are missing and are being searched by rescue workers
On the evening of September 21/2017, two migrant boats carrying 320 irregular migrants from Yemen to Djibouti arrived in the coastal area of โโDjibouti.
Dagu Journal heard that 48 migrants died following the accident, while 197 migrants survived the accident and reached the international refugee camp in Obok.
Rescue workers are still searching for the bodies of the remaining 75 migrants.
So far, it has been found out that all the migrants are Ethiopians in the process of checking the citizens at the place.
The embassy expressed its deepest condolences to our citizens who lost their lives due to this serious accident, and urged that all institutions should work together to reduce the number of deaths caused by human trafficking.
