Previously, to avoid morning and night congestion, code 2 vehicles will be moved in shifts, which will come into effect in 2 to 3 months, a head of the Addis Ababa Traffic Management Authority told the media.
They said that all the legal framework has been prepared for odd and full number of code 2 cars to move in shifts.
Within hours of saying this, the same person who is in a position of responsibility in the official office, the office came out on social media and responded saying, “This is for future study, not for immediate implementation; it is not my position” and the matter ended there.
And now, the transportation office is releasing a statement to the media that says, “There are only designated roads for mass transportation (public transportation) to avoid traffic jams due to the opening of schools, and it will be implemented from Sunday.”
The lines are highly trafficked.
Hours later, the office made a decision that said, “Transportation services will continue as they are until we discuss with the stakeholders.”
How could such a decision concerning the many transport customers of the city be passed without discussion?
That is a big question.
