An individual who was accused of stealing khat worth 200 birr on August 24, 2016 in an area called Bercho Kebele Wacho in Sankura District of Silte Zone has been sentenced to life imprisonment.
Accused Neja Sorbe, who received information about the theft of a khat belonging to Mr. Meshkur Shehsule for sale, the Sankura district police tracked down the suspect and sent him to the prosecutor for proper investigation.
The prosecutor, on the other hand, after examining the investigation file submitted to him by the police, filed a case against the accused for the crime of theft and presented it to the Sankura district court.
After looking at the case presented by the prosecutor, the court gave a verdict of guilt against the accused.
Accordingly, the Sankura district court decided to sentence the accused Mr. Neja Sorbe to 1 year and 7 months of rigorous imprisonment, saying that he will correct the accused and teach others.
