Today I met had discussions with US SEHOA on issues pertaining to the implementation of the COHA, challenges standing in the way and possible ways forward.
Ambassador Hammer underscored the US Government’s commitment to supporting the Interim Administration in its endeavors to carry out its mandate as quickly as possible.
I reiterated that the US and its partners must exert coordinated pressure towards the full implementation of the agreement & help end the suffering of hundreds of thousands of IDPs as well as Tigrayan refugees in Sudan.
I also emphasized that the status quo is no longer tenable & failure to fully implement the agreement would have far-reaching consequences to peace & stability in the region.

He added that the recently approved Value Added Tax Proclamation did not include an article regarding electric vehicles. Sources from the Ministry of Transport and Logistics contacted by the unit regarding this;
They said that a small value added tax will be imposed on electric vehicles that are fully assembled abroad and imported and partially assembled.
However, if the vehicles are fully assembled in the country, they are fully exempted from tax, he said.

It is believed that the tax incentive on electric cars will help to increase the motivation of the investor and the supply of renewable energy in the country, and will contribute significantly to support the efforts to reduce air pollution.
