Addis Ababa’s public transport fares have been revised

Addis Ababa City Administration Transport Office has revised the service tariff for mini-buses, midi-bus taxis and city buses engaged in public transport services.

Minibus taxi increase

📌 4 birr from 50 cents, 10 birr

📌 8 birr from 50 cents, 15 birr

📌 20 Birr which was 13 Birr

📌 25 Birr which was 17 Birr

📌 21 birr from 50 cents has become 30 birr.

The increase will be effective from tomorrow, October 6, 2017.

The new tariff adjustment will be implemented from tomorrow, October 6, 2017;
The bureau announced that the tariff rate that was previously being provided was in use from October 20/2016 and the calculation only took into account the increase in the price of fuel.

The office announced that the current tariff revision is based on the current retail price of fuel and other administrative costs;
Urging public transport service providers to provide services only at the newly revised legal tariff rate;
He urges that the office and the relevant stakeholders will take strict action against those who transmit this.

The office announced that when the public encounters public transport service providers who charge more than the fare, they can give suggestions to the nearby transport inspectors and traffic police, as well as to the nearest transport branch office in person or by calling the toll-free number 9417.
