The Ethiopian Athletics Federation announced that athlete Soummehon Ateneh, who suffered severe damage to his left eye during an attack during training, underwent a successful first round of eye surgery.
The federation recalled that following the injury, he was receiving medical treatment in the country and headed to China, India for better treatment.
The information of the federation indicated that he is currently in good health and is undergoing further treatment.
